An exceptional opportunity to own what the ACBS Rudder calls “the most iconic wood boat of all time,” this 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom Runabout “Barrel Back” represents the craftsmanship, styling, and character that have made prewar Chris-Crafts so highly regarded among collectors and enthusiasts.

Hull #48718 retains many of the period-correct details that make this boat truly special. Its unmistakable sweeping mahogany barrel-back stern is complemented by a rare Bugatti-style windshield, distinctive orange deck striping, a period-correct banjo steering wheel, and genuine green leather upholstery finished in its original-style color.

Power comes from its original 130 HP Chris-Craft Model M flathead six-cylinder engine, M-11002, which has very few hours since being rebuilt. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volt for added convenience, while details such as original-style engine plug wires help preserve the boat’s vintage character.

The boat also benefits from a newer WEST SYSTEM bottom and recently received fresh varnish by Bergersen Boat Co., allowing its beautiful mahogany and classic lines to truly stand out. Blue and beige instrumentation completes the period-inspired helm.

The original hull card is included, along with a period-correct fire extinguisher for display. A trailer and waterline cover are also included with the sale.

Beautifully presented and maintained with careful attention to its original character, this 1940 Chris-Craft Barrel Back is equally at home cruising the lake, displayed at an antique and classic boat show, or taking its place in a serious collection.
